THE CELEBRATION PARTY………MAY 4, 2013

Hello to all, once again. This will be a short blog as I had mentioned before. Wanted to show you pictures of the Celebration Party. Last month’s blog focused on photos of the finished Condo. However, before we get to the fun stuff, just had to tell you about all of the fun (or not) leading up to Saturday, May 4 and including that day………….

Phyllis, you did it!!

All the previous week, everyone was asking me if I was nervous about the upcoming party. My obvious answer was NO!. How many years have I planned and done weddings and parties that were much more elaborate than this party? And how many home parties did I have personally? What was there to be nervous about? I had the best Chef available and was certainly not worried about food. I hired music that I had heard and loved, so that was not an issue. The only thing maybe was the guy who does the set-up of everything plus the service. Although I had seen photos of his work and what he does, I was not concerned as this was my party, my money and if anything went wrong, it was not for a client, but for me and I would know for the future how to correct or whatever!.. So NO, I was very relaxed and truly looking forward to having a good time with friends.

On Saturday at about 11 o’clock in the morning it started to rain. Hasn’t rained for weeks, but hello- here it was. But then it stopped and an hour later again with the rain.. And so, but 1:30 in the afternoon, here I was having to make a judgment call, and so I did. Obviously, I could not take a chance and so I told Nic, the set-up guy- we are going with Plan B, and that is the lobby of the building which leads out to the deck, but nevertheless, is the lobby- small, dingy and no atmosphere. But food and dessert tables had to be set up, so no choice. Then I proceeded to lay out that space for the tables and chairs to be set up but I said- ”just put the tables in place – no chairs.” I know they think I was crazy but having lived in Florida for almost all of my life, I knew weather conditions and I was going to live this out until the last minute. And so at 5PM, I made the call to put all of the tables and chairs OUTSIDE on the deck as planned and set up the BAR – outside as well. People would just have to come inside for the dinner and desserts, but hors d’oeuvres would be passed to avoid anyone from having to come in – they could relax, get their pictures taken, listen to music, dance – whatever. Jose, the on site property manager who you have heard me talk about before, got the broom and started sweeping the puddles of water OUT of the way.!!!! And friends…………it all turned out beautifully!!!

A friend from the building, Barb Munn, always, but always takes her iPad wherever she goes and she asked permission to shoot some pictures. Altho I had a professional photographer, I said yes, and I want you to know, that a few of the pictures you will see with “collages” are from Barb and I am so happy she did this as it will show you some of the “deck” area around the building which was never captured by the photographer. She loves what she does with these things and is an extremely talented woman. Speaking of our deck area, we could easily have a party here on the deck for 500 people. It does go all around the building, and is a beautiful area.

Party over and I must say, for my first big party, I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Food was incredible and Pascal Finet, the French Chef from our restaurant here on property truly outdid himself. I am making this short, so will not go into details as to the menu, but it was a Spanish Menu featuring Paella (meat AND seafood) and for all of you in the Tampa area where we live for the Columbia- forget that – this was so far superior that the Columbia is like a MacDonald’s. That was not easy for me to say, but very true. Even in the hay-day for the Columbia, in Tampa, this was so much better!!!!!

And friends, so goes it for the party. To the many of you who were always part of my parties, you were really missed!. I was actually waiting for someone to surprise me and show up, but that did not happen. Too bad. It was truly a lot of fun and you guys would have LOVED IT. From now on- it will be house parties!!!! I am trying to get them to get a big Grill, a Bar area, etc set up on our deck so that we, the tenants can have parties and entertain there. This is not a new idea as I am told, but obviously – we will have to start forcing the issue and get it done. It is truly a beautiful area to entertain, small or large. And with all this being said, I am still inviting, and waiting for your reservations to come and visit this beautiful country and to experience some of the wonders of Panama.

Back at you all when I return June 8. If anyone needs to reach me while in the states, I think you have my number. 727-343-1393 and I will eventually get it. Also, my stateside cell and only good when I am actually in the states, is 727-218-3079. Love to you all. By the way- welcome to many of my Panama friends who are now reading the blog. Eventually, you will be giving me tips to pass on to my friends who are all over the world!!!!

And now for the Party Celebration……………
