December, 2019

A crazy end of the year/decade! As I was taking my time to settle in once again, I started to realize that December had arrived and all too soon it would be over and I had so much to do and so much to get done to start the New Year! Where this year of 2019 has gone, I do not know but so happy it is finally ending and now only new beginnings to start, but will get back to that in a little bit.
A few of us were at friends Elaine and Rons for dinner one night

and we four women decided we were for LGBT and I even posted this photo on Facebook – Elaine, Phyllis, Susan and Judy stand for Liberty, Guns, Beer and Trump!!

It’s always a fun evening and food is always outstanding as Elaine is a fabulous cook.
Deb and I managed a few trips to Costa Verde (about a 45 minute drive from where I live) so we could go to PriceSmart (the U.S. Costco) as well as the BIG Riba Smith there that has anything and everything so in reality, a great place to do a big shopping!. We love the Kotowa Coffee Shop

there for a really great Cappuccino, so that is always a “must.”!!! I have even gone to Panama City a few times this month. Time for a good medical check up with the Blood Work and X-rays!. Always fun (yeah, right) but much less expensive than in the states (even with Medicare and yes, better doctors and care here)!! Traffic during December is horrific but with my good music playing – I just took all in stride and drove slowly. Seems that the Polizia are all over the place during the month of December and they can smell the “gringos” and always pull them over. They paritcularly love me, so I really need to watch out for them. Stayed over with dear friend Isabel on one visit and we always have a great time. There is now Town Center, a huge new shopping center right next door to her condo building with blocks of new stores and eateries. A fabulous place to shop and a great place for food and drink of all kinds.
My good friend from St. Petersburg, Dr. Dave

paid a visit to one of his good friends for a few days in Panama City and we got together for a few hours over lunch. Always great seeing friends from home and being able to spend a few hours catching up!.
BANG!!!!I realized I had very little time left in this month to organize all of my paperwork left for 2019, along with my 2020 Calendars to organize – my office to get cleaned up, etc. Is there ever an end to all of this? So I have been spending a lot of time organizing and re-organizing to make things easier for me. I am still getting rid of “stuff” and it feels so good! But dont go looking for anything because you really may not find it!Did I put it someplace else – maybe another file? Or mayabe under another file name? Perhaps I really threw it out? So I have finally decided whatever I cannot find – I just no longer have! End of problem. Put me in jail or sue me if it was something I should not have lost! Too old to worry anymore about what I call trivial matters! Good philosophy, so I think.
I have bee utilizing the concierges here here on their off hours to help me move things around and change. Carlos and Octavio have been indispensable in helping me.

Also dealing with the leaking walls for the third time, but they think they have “finally” gotten to the bottom of the problem. I have been promised that on January 2, 2020 (NOW) they will begin to scrape my bubbly walls and wash down with Chlorox to get all of the mold out! Then we wait a while to make sure the leaks are really gone before they have to paint the walls in both back rooms (2nd bedroom and office)! Guess I will actually start breathing better again!
I have still been keeping a low profile and not out and about as I have done before. Just taking it slow and easy for a while. I am trying to be more selective about my time and I have made some decisions for 2020 and beyond!. I want to be more productive and some of the decisions I am making will help. I am going to be off of Facebook. It is very unhealthy and also addictive and it is really time to say bye bye! I may go on once in a while, but that is a maybe for sure. My good friends all know how to reach me by phone, email, or whatever. I want to start reading again as I really do miss relaxing with a good book! More exercise for sure and I want to start a project I have been thinking about for a very long time. I want to write a book about my decision to move away from the U. S. in 2012, my experiences over eight years away from the U S., the fascinating people I have met from all over the world, and lots of advice for single women. Altho everyone has said I am “gutsy,” – I have never thought of myself as that and it does NOT take guts to move around the world. Much easier to do today with so many ex-pats all over and the experiences are immeasurable. At any rate, there is much I want to do yet and I need the “time.” I have also decided that I cannot continue the Blog each and every month. It is very time consuming and some months there is really nothing new. So I will Blog, but you will get it as a surprise, and it will always be on the last day of the month. That way it wont be as confusing. If you are signed up, you will automatically receive it in your email. If you just go and look for it each month, you will just have to check, but I will keep it at the last day of the month so it is not totally confusing!

Family and friends, all so dear to me – I want to wish you and your families the BEST of everything for the coming year, 2020. May you find the love you seek, the health you wish for, the happiness, and peace in your hearts. May this coming year be only good in all ways and give us a glimpse into what the new decade has in store for us all. Love you all and we will be in touch……………………………………………
