September, 2020

Another month and in this crazy world of COVID, I don’t think too many of us know whether we are coming or going….at least here in Panama – many are saying

“What day is this”? Restrictions have been lifted very slowly. We are now allowed out 6 days a week, all day and no gender restrictions. However, where are we going? Beginning on Monday, the 28th, all stores, restaurants etc will be open and you can go and do anything. However, will the mobs rush out to be in all of the stores, malls, etc and then we see the start of cases start to rise again? Panamanians are not always as disciplined as the foreigners who have come to live here. I know many people who have rushed to make reservations already at their favorite restaurants because they just want to eat out!. Hopefully, we will not suffer and have a set-back. I am being very cautious and can wait. I still get delivery service of great food when I want it and can eat on my balcony overlooking my magnificent view! We shall see!!
Haven’t done much at all this month for some reason. Guess you just get into a rut and sort of stay there when restrictions are put on you for a long period of time. However, this month has really flown by.
Dear friend Barb returned home after a lengthy stay in the Hospital for a surgery and had a long recovery at home, but finally was able to go out for a short bit and a few of us went down to Boga Bar,

here at our Marina to celebrate her getting back her stamina, her wit, and just being Barb once again. A great way to celebrate a lovely lady and a good time was had by all.

More “nothingness” and then it was Rosh Hashonah. Decided I needed to have some FRESH flowers for once and since I had Maudy here to display her flowers last month I called her to please make me a table arrangement.

Loved the fact I could call and order and it was delivered – just like calling your florist in the states. WOW- we have really come a long way Panama! I was thrilled and the arrangement lasted for 8 days, making it even more wonderful!! I certainly enjoyed my holiday dinner and the Main Dish was a new recipe where everything cooks on a sheet pan together in the oven.

The special sauce that goes over all (chicken and all veggies) is out of this world and was truly so easy to make. Amazing! Guess we are never too old to learn new things!

Then before I knew what hit me, Yom Kippur and bingo- the month is over!!
I hope my dear family and friends who celebrate the Jewish Holidays had a meaningful New Year as well as a good fast on Yom Kippur and are all ready now for the new year . A great time for prayer and reflection for us all wherever we may be.
As we enter the month of October, things are certainly heating up in the U.S.I do watch the news and cannot believe what is happening in the United States. No matter what, I pray for all. I dont think we are going to see a return of the U. S. as we knew it, especially my generation. I have so many wonderful memories of my childhood, young adulthood, married life and raising my two beautiful children. Unfortunately, my grandchildren will never know or understand the wonderful times we did have WAY, WAY back when. And speaking of grandchildren, Sam, the youngest, just turned 12 on September 6 and here is a great picture of him celebrating out on the water with family and friends in Indianapolis on his special day! Way to go Sam!!!

I promise that I will try to make October a more fun month now that things are open after 7 months of lock-down! Guess we have to get back to living life once again.,

My love to you all and I look forward to hearing from many of you again in this next month. Always great catching up. Stay healthy you all and until next month…………………………………………..
